PIALASSA is cut from the last silk-wool we will see from Soave; the lot was 22 metres and it makes nine coats. When the ninth is pressed the piece comes off this page. We do not re-order, and we do not substitute a near-enough cloth to keep a photograph alive.
Most of what makes a small label legible is the list of things it declines. Ours has been the same since 2017 and it is the reason the cut is only twenty-four pieces.
Seven weeks for a coat or a suit from the day we measure, five for a jacket, three for a shirt. Two of those weeks are the press and the rest. If you need it faster we will tell you no rather than rush the toile — the shoulder is where rushing shows.
38 to 52, and nothing outside that, because the blocks below 38 and above 52 would need re-drafting and we would be guessing. Made-to-measure follows your card, not the block.
The piece is withdrawn from the list that week. We write to anyone holding a measure card for it and we say how many metres are left before we take it down, usually about a month ahead.
Free in the first year, at cost after that, for as long as the garment lasts. Hems and sleeves while you wait on a Saturday; a body alteration takes ten days.
Fourteen days on a stock size, unworn. Made-to-measure is not returnable, which is exactly why we insist on the calico fitting before we cut the cloth.
The rail holds all twenty-four. Thursday to Saturday, 10:00 to 18:00, one hour per appointment, no charge and no obligation to order anything.
